Updated: Dec 4, 2022

Sagada, Mt. Province – While it is not mandatory, tourists visiting Sagada are encouraged to avail of the travel insurance the municipality is offering for them to receive financial assistance if they happen to meet an accident, suffer from injury, or die while in the municipality.

In an announcement made by Sagada Tourism Office on Tuesday, November 29, they relayed the legislative body of the Sagada government recently passed Municipal Ordinance No. 14 series 2022, or "An Ordinance Prescribing an Optional Basis Insurance Protection Coverage of Tourists coming to the Municipality of Sagada.”

The ordinance is meant to answer for injuries and or death that they may incur or sustain while on tour and/or during their stay in the Municipality of Sagada" otherwise known as the Tourist Insurance Law of the Municipality of Sagada.

Though the amount of financial assistance was not mentioned, the insurance will cover accidental death/disablement, unprovoked murder and assault, accidental medical reimbursement, accidental burial reimbursement, and medical evacuation.

To avail of the insurance, tourists are only required to present their valid identification, such as passport ID or any government-issued ID.

For more details regarding the insurance, tourists are told to visit the municipality’s Tourist Information Center.
