Two criminal charges filed against 17-yr.-old who stabbed to death Grade 10-APSCIE student

Abulug, Cagayan - The 17-year-old suspected of brutally killing a 14-year-old grade-10 female student of Apayao Science High School (APSCIE) using a knife is now in the custody of DSWD.

The crime, according to the investigation of the police, was committed at the house of the victim on Monday morning, August 25, in Calog Sur, Abulug, Cagayan.

The victim suffered numerous stabs in her face, neck, and back. The possible motive of the suspect was not disclosed by the Abulug Municipal Police Station, which is handling the case.

Abulug-MPS led by COP PMAJ Angelo S. Pagulayan said two criminal charges have been filed to the Provincial Prosecutor against the suspect killer. This includes murder and frustrated murder. The frustrated murder charge is from the attempt of the suspect to kill the 5-year-old sibling of the victim, who was also injured in the attack.

The suspect, after his arrest, was brought to the CVMC for mental examination.

In a conversation with Luna MPS led by PCPT Gideon Bennaguen, he disclosed that the offender had a previous case in 2023, saying, ‘’ Adda case na diay suspect idi 2023, Acts of Lasciviousness and Serious Physical Injuries, but dismissed, then nag undergo ng Rehabilitation sa Enrile, Cagayan,” he told Luna PIO.

Abulug MPS, moreover, said the suspect had also undergone rehabilitation in Antipolo but escaped.

Calog Sur Punong Barangay Marilou G. Gattoc informed, "The cadaver of the victim was brought to her father’s place in Isabela."
