Conner, Apayao - Although Super Typhoon Betty made no landfall in the Philippines, some areas felt the effects of its strength, and in Barangay Buluan, Conner damaged a house and affected a family of three.

In a situational report forwarded to the Apayao PDRRMO, it said a house was partially destroyed after a tree fell on it due to strong winds yesterday afternoon, May 29, 2023.

While there was damage, no injuries or casualties were reported. PDRRM Officer Joeffrey Borromeo said that the response and validating team were at the site right after he received a report of the incident. Assessment and provision of immediate aid were done.

Borromeo, in an interview, said financial assistance is being facilitated by the DSWD-SWAD personnel in the area.

Days before the typhoon, Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. directed officials and all concerned agencies in the province to be on heightened alert and to preposition all needed equipment, manpower, and supplies in the event of calamities.

As of yet, there have not been any major incidents reported to have transpired. Nevertheless, Borromeo said they are continuously and closely monitoring areas prone to disasters and coordinating with their counterparts.
