Typhoon-hit families in Kalinga get P5M cash aid from Sen. Padilla

Tabuk City, Kalinga - A total of P5 million financial aid from the Office of Senator Robinhood Padilla has been distributed to typhoon-affected families in Kalinga today, August 11, 2023 at the Astrodome.


The assistance was made possible through the initiative of Governor James S. Edduba who sought from the senator’s office, based on the overall data presented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Kalinga.

The amount of aid for each family depends on the extent of damage to their properties incurred at the height of Super Typhoon Egay on July 26 – July 27, 2023, according to a report by the Kalinga Information Office.



The distribution of the financial assistance this Friday was led by PSWDO Rose Oyawon along with other staff from the provincial governor’s office.


Meanwhile, DSWD–Cordillera likewise provided typhoon-hit families in the region with P5,000 for partially damaged houses and P10,000 for totally wrecked shelters. An additional assistance was given to families who lost their loved ones to the typhoon.


The fund came from the agency’s respective Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE).
