Unclaimed dead body found in Sto. Niňo, Cagayan buried by authorities

Sto Niño, Cagayan – An unidentified male cadaver, first seen floating at a river in Sta. Felicitas, Santo Niño, Cagayan, was eventually buried by authorities after no relatives claimed it.

The decision to bury the dead body was made as it was already in an advanced decomposing state.

The man, according to police, might have come from another place and was only carried by the river until it was found by a resident in the area who happened to pass while on board a boat on Monday, June 10.

It was said so as there were no missing persons reported at the Santo Niño police station in the past few days.

When found, the cadaver was wearing a yellow shirt and had no undergarments.

The police and the personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office retrieved the body from the river after being notified.

The Municipal Health Office, meanwhile, confirmed that drowning was the cause of the victim’s death.

The public, particularly those who have missing family members or relatives, may coordinate with the Sto Niño Police Station. They can be reached through this number – 0906 -346-6951.
