Baguio City, Philippines – The office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue – Cordillera warned the online sellers to register their business, otherwise face legal actions.

Director Douglas Rufino of BIR – Cordillera, during the Kapihan media forum held on Wednesday, stressed they have the power to charge those who refuse to register their online business for tax evasion.

According to Rufino, their agency are monitoring the social media platform and they have their ways to detect those who are making profit in said platform without their registration.

Baguio City’s Revenue District Officer Wilfredo Reyes clarified there is no certain amount required for the online business registration, as long as you are profiting therefrom from your platform, there’s a certain bracket to pay income tax for that.”

This year, the regional BIR has been helping the online sellers through the 32 seminars it administered on Tax Awareness Program.
