Baguio City, Philippines – In celebration of the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) this November, the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera opened a photo contest and Tiktok video challenge to bring out creativity while raising awareness among participants on being RICEponsibly healthy.

DA-CAR shared through a press release that this year’s event hopes to encourage the public to do their share of RICEponsibility by valuing every grain of rice and eating healthier rice to benefit themselves, other consumers, rice farmers, and the country as a whole.

It also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of healthier forms of rice that are locally produced, such as pigmented and brown rice.

How to join the photo contest?

Individuals aging 18 years and above may join the Search for Creative and Quality Photos that capture this year’s theme, “Be RICEponsibly Healthy.”

Interested participants only need to take a picture of a healthy rice plate then post it publicly on their Facebook account, captioning it with their name, brief description, place, and date the photo was taken, with the hashtags #BeRICEponsiblyHealthy and #NRAMDACARPhoto2021.

The participants likewise need to tag five of their friends and challenge them to share their healthy rice plate.

Further, participants are required to comment their photo on the photo contest post of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera as their official entry then send the photo to nram2021car@gmail.com with the subject: NAME_PhotoEntry_NRAM2021.

Submission of entries will be until 5pm of November 22, 2021. Entries will be judged according to content and creativity, relevance to the theme, and adherence to the guidelines.

Guidelines and Photo Requirement

Entries must be taken within two years before the date of entry and must not have previously won an award.

Also, photos must have not been published in any media outlet nor used in any advertisement.

All entries must be original. Submitting photos from others will be a ground for disqualification.

The photo should be in a digital format with at least 300 dpi. Landscape or portrait orientation will be accepted.

Entries should have no watermarks, or any text on the photograph, and should have not undergone post-processing.

Tiktok Video Challenge

Participants for the video contest only need to create a 1-minute video on how to be RICEponsibly healthy.

Sample ideas are how to prepare healthy food for your family and utilizing heirloom/brown rice and organic vegetables in every meal.

The video shall be posted publicly on the Tiktok account of the participant with the hashtags #BeRICEponsiblyHealthy and #NRAMDACARTikTok2021.

Official entries shall be sent to nram2021car@gmail.com with the subject: NAME_TikTokEntry_NRAM2021. Participants need to include their name, address, birth date, contact number, and link to their TikTok video in the email.

All entries will be judged for the content and relevance to theme, originality and impact, and creativity.

Prizes for the contests

The first prize for the photo contest is P5,000, the second place shall receive P3,000, and P2,000 for the third place.

The winner of the Tiktok video challenge will get P7,000, second place will have P5,000, and P3,000 for the third place.
