Wanted robber from Kalinga captured in Isabela

Quezon, Isabela – A wanted robber from Kalinga and his two companions who fired gun at the authorities were arrested in Quezon, Isabela early morning of January 11, 2023.

The police identified the suspects as Rico Palas, 24, a resident of Tabuk City; Ismael Salibad, 31, from Pinukpuk; and a minor, also from Tabuk City.

Palas has a standing arrest warrant for robbery which the Quezon police intended to serve around 3:00 a.m. at a bar in Barangay Arellano where he was spotted, the Police Regional Office 2 disclosed.

The wanted individual, however, withstood the police and escaped with his companion using a motorcycle. One of them fired several times at the authorities before fleeing in the west direction.

Five hours later, the three suspects were arrested in a hot pursuit operation.

A Llama cal. 45 pistol, a hand grenade, and a brick of suspected marijuana were recovered from Palas.

Authorities likewise confiscated a Taurus cal. 45 and a hand grenade from Salibad while an improvised gauge 12 shotgun without a serial number and a grenade were also seized from the minor suspect.

The three were brought to Quezon Police Station for proper disposition.
