Balbalan, Kalinga – Affirming his belief that empowered women uplift others and strengthen communities, Mayor Almar Malannag reiterated his continued support for women in Balbalan as the Municipal LGU honors the contributions of every iBalbalan woman to the town’s progress.

The local chief executive made the statement during the municipality’s Women’s Month celebration on April 8, 2026, in Poblacion, Balbalan.

Speaking before women attendees, Mayor Malannag emphasized that the Municipal LGU values every woman in the town—whether farmers, homemakers, professionals, politicians, or those quietly serving the community. He stressed that every woman “matters, leads, and belongs.”

“As your mayor, I want you to know that this Local Government Unit stands firmly behind every woman of Balbalan. Your struggles are our struggles. Your dreams are our agenda,” he conveyed.

The mayor shared that his administration is working closely with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office to ensure the welfare of women and to address their needs through proposed and implemented government programs in the municipality. He added that through the Public Employment Service Office, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the LGU is providing livelihood training, skills development, and technical assistance to women.

“A woman equipped with skills is a woman who can lift not just herself, but her entire family and community. We believe that economic empowerment is gender equality in action,” he stressed.

The mayor concluded his speech by reminding women of their strength and resilience, emphasizing that the LGU honors their contributions at home, in the workplace, and in the community.

“Let this Women’s Month be more than a celebration. Let it be a commitment—from this administration, from every office, from every leader—that in Balbalan, no woman will be left behind. Because when women rise, Balbalan rises,” the Mayor concluded.
