Luna, Apayao – Mhage Sebastian, a 17-year-old chess prodigy from Flora, Apayao, made an exemplary performance in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 College Women’s Chess Championship.

Sebastian was among the Far Eastern University’s six representatives. The chess wonder scored 9.5 points in 12 rounds from her 8 victories, 3 draws, and 1 loss.

With her contribution, FEU dethroned the longest-reigning National University (NU) Bulldogs and emerged as overall champions.

Said event took place last November 19, 2023 at the FEU Tech Gymnasium in Manila City.

With a gold medal on Board 3, Sebastian led her team in reclaiming the title after the university’s last championship win in Season 82.
