YKalingas in crisis, farmers grateful for P5M cash aid, farm machinery provision


Tabuk City, Kalinga – YKalingas in crisis and farmer groups were gratified by the machineries and P5,000,000 cash assistance provided to them during the visit of Senator Maria Imelda Josefa "Imee" Marcos on Kalinga’s 28th foundation anniversary, February 14, 2023.


The presidential sister and an adopted daughter of Kalinga with the name “Lagunawa” led the ceremonial awarding at the Kalinga Sports Center.

Some 1,000 farmers received P5,000 under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development which serves as a social safety net or a stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crisis such as illness or death of a family member, and other crisis situations.


In addition, farm machineries were awarded to farmer organizations as follows: Gumawisan Mapaco Farmers Association and Cawagayan Farmers Association in Pinukpuk; and Kapapayaan Liwan West Farmers and Irrigators Associations, San Pedro Agriculture Cooperative, and Mannalon ti Babalag West Farmers Association in Rizal.


Other groups which were likewise granted farm equipment include PUR Credit Cooperative, Pagsayaatan Credit Cooperative, Bulanao Multipurpose Cooperative, Marapi-Abaggoy Credit Cooperative, Sagpat Farmers Association, Cabaruan Multipurpose Cooperative, and Holy Trinity Cathedral Multipurpose Cooperative, all in Tabuk City.

As part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Mechanization program, the farmers’ associations received a total of 12 units of trans-behind transplanters, 7 units rice-combined harvesters, and 1 unit of re-circulating dryer.


Recipients expressed their gratitude for said provision aimed at easing their burden.


Speaking to beneficiaries, Marcos assured more support to yKalingas in the near future.
