TANUDAN, Kalinga — “Dakayo iti modelo iti ili tayo.” These were the words of Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag as he recognized the strength and resilience of solo parents in the municipality, while reaffirming the local government’s continuing support for programs and initiatives promoting their welfare.

Dagadag made the statement before solo parents from Tanudan during the Information Drive on Republic Act No. 11861, or the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, and Solo Parents’ Week Celebration held on August 14 at the Davidson Hotel.

The activity aimed to orient solo parents on their rights, privileges, and the government services and assistance available to them under the law.

During his message, the mayor emphasized the strength and resilience of solo parents who take on the responsibility of providing for, disciplining, and raising their children, often while carrying the roles of both parents.

“Dakayo ket uray agmaymaysa kayo ket mapadakkel yu latta dagitoy u-ubbing yu. Isu nga dakayo iti modelo iti ili tayo. Ammu mi nga narigrigat kadakayo, ad-adu iti sakripisyo yu ta dakayo iti agbalbalin nga ama ken ina at the same time kadagiti ubbing,” he said.

Dagadag assured the solo parents that the municipal government would continue to uphold their rights, privileges, and access to services provided under the law.

He said the LGU would do its best to ensure that solo parents receive the assistance and benefits mandated by the government despite limitations in municipal resources.

“Amin nga pagsayaatan ti constituents ti Tanudan ket isu iti ar-aramiden ken itrab-trabaho tayo. Uray nu limited iti pondo tayo ket iyaramidan tayo latta iti pamuspusan. Ken makaasa kayo nga iti LGU tayo, through dagitoy nagagaget nga MSWDO, ket ited da nu anya dagiti mandated iti linteg nga para kadakayo nga solo parents,” he said.

Dagadag also recognized the efforts of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) in helping ensure that solo parents are informed of and able to access the benefits and services intended for them.

The mayor’s message underscored the important role of solo parents in raising the next generation, describing their perseverance and sacrifices as an example of strength for the entire Tanudan community.
