Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor James S. Edduba has congratulated the 24 iKalinga graduates of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) "Salighirang" Class of 2026, describing their achievement as a source of pride not only for their families but for the entire Province of Kalinga.

In an interview, Edduba said completing the rigorous academic and military training required at the country's premier maritime academy is no ordinary feat, noting that it demands discipline, perseverance, resilience, and unwavering commitment.

He said the graduates' success reflects the determination and capability of Kalinga's youth to overcome challenges and excel in their chosen professions.

"The success of these 24 graduates is a source of pride and joy for the whole of Kalinga. Saan laeng a dagiti pamilya da ti agragragsak, no diket dagiti komunidad ken ti amin a kakailyanda. Their success is proof that the young people of Kalinga can achieve their dreams through hard work, discipline, and perseverance," Edduba said.

The governor expressed hope that the graduates' accomplishment would inspire more young iKalingas to pursue their dreams, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

Carry Kalinga's values wherever you go

Asked what message he would give to the newly commissioned maritime professionals, Edduba encouraged them to remain grounded, never forget their roots, and uphold the values that define every iKalinga.

He reminded them to carry paniyaw (respect), ngilin (reverence), and bain (sense of honor and propriety) wherever their careers may take them, saying these values will earn them respect and help preserve Kalinga's good name.
