10-year-old boy in Pinukpuk went missing after going to Saltan River


Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Authorities are now searching for a 10-year-old boy who went missing after he went to the Saltan River on Monday, June 6, 2022.


Pinukpuk police were informed Tuesday, June 7, 2022 that a certain Jake Bacaya, grade 4 pupil at Pinukpuk Central School and a resident of Brookside, Taga, Pinukpuk was nowhere to be found on the afternoon of June 6.


According to the sister who reported the incident, Bacaya went home at around 4 PM of June 6.

When their father arrived at 5 PM, they discovered that the younger brother was not yet around. While searching, his relatives found one piece of Bacaya’s slippers on the river bank.


Having found the pair of his slippers, they assumed that the missing person went swimming in the Saltan River.


In an interview, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Rosemarie Ambong said that PNP Pinukpuk already coordinated with PNP Tuao regarding the incident, informing the residents along the river to notify them in case they catch a sight of the missing minor.


The search and retrieval operation is still ongoing and is being conducted by personnel of Pinukpuk MDRRMO, Taga BDRRMC, Bureau of Fire Protection-Pinukpuk and PNP-Pinukpuk.
