Tabuk City, Kalinga – Despite the campaign against indiscriminate firing, two individuals were reportedly caught discharging their firearms on New Year’s Eve in the province.

In an interview with Kalinga Police Deputy Provincial Director for Administration Police Lieutenant Colonel Jomarick Felina, he mentioned that two individuals were arrested past 1 o’clock in the morning of January 1.

The suspects were identified as certain Juanito Agurin, 62, and Redford Agurin, 37. Both are residents of Barangay Lanna, Tabuk City.

Felina narrated that the two were seen by an off-duty police officer who heard the gunshots emanating from their neighborhood in Lanna on New Year’s Eve. It was disclosed that he tried to stop them, but they allegedly refused and ran away.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) personnel of Tabuk City Police Station responded to the incident and pursued and apprehended the two. The suspects were then brought to the Bulanao Police Sub-Station for proper documentation.

Felina said no one came to the police to report any injury in relation to the incident.

Meantime, a 33-year-old man was also arrested in Tayum, Abra for allegedly discharging his firearm illegally on New Year’s Eve.
