3 tourists visiting Kalinga caught transporting P.4M Marijuana

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Three individuals who came to visit the province were arrested for transporting suspected Marijuana Monday afternoon, June 6, 2022 in Sitio Dinakan, Dangoy, Lubuagan.

The police in the province disclosed that they were informed on June 5 that a Chevrolet Sedan would be ferrying contrabands from Tinglayan on June 6.

Having been alerted by the information, authorities flagged down the car matching the tip around 2:00 in the afternoon at a police checkpoint in Dinakan.

Through the aid of a drug-sniffing dog, 4 pieces of suspected dried marijuana in tubular form worth P480,000 were discovered from the vehicle, the police said.

Further, the authorities seized a piece of marijuana-dried leaf and two pieces of grinder with suspected residue of marijuana during the operation.

For this reason, the police arrested the suspects who were identified as Dawn Agudo, 32, factory worker, and a native of Corpus, Masbate; Hesus Laygo, 27, visual analyst, and resident of Novaliches; and Andrain Rodrigues, 33, instructor, and from Subic, Zambales.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law of 2002 is expected to be filed against the suspects.
