Balbalan, Kalinga – When it comes to collection efficiency of locally sourced revenues for 2022, Balbalan, Pasil, and Tinglayan are the top performers in Kalinga province, says the Provincial Treasury Office.
For a few years now, Balbalan remains to be in the lead. In 2020, a top Ace Award was conferred to the locality’s Municipal Treasury Office for attaining the highest overall collection efficiency with 169 percent rating, based on its annual target as set by the Bureau of Local Government Finance.
The town continuously implements its strategies that contribute to its hefty tax haul.
As stated in the data released by the office, Balbalan collected P7,508,184.95 from its target collection of P6,330,412.44 in 2022 thus, garnering 116.60 percent collection efficiency. Pasil followed the list with 114.57 percent efficiently. Tinglayan comes next with 107.99 percent collection efficiency.
For other localities to learn from the best practices of Balbalan in achieving such a level, the Provincial Treasury Office gathered all Municipal Treasurers in the province for the Benchmarking activity from March 16 to 17, 2023.
During the event attended by Mayor Almar Malannag, Treasury Offices of other municipalities also shared insights with the group. Other income-generating departments in towns will be included in the province.
