The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) clarified on June 7, 2026 that the use of AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr.'s image in circulating social media posts intended to influence political activities was not authorized by the military institution.

According to AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad, the AFP is not involved in any partisan political activity and does not endorse actions that may compromise its neutrality as a professional military organization.

The clarification came after social media posts bearing the image of General Brawner circulated online and were reportedly used to encourage participation in political activities and protest actions.

The AFP reminded the public to exercise caution when engaging with content on social media and to verify information before sharing it, particularly posts that may falsely suggest military support for political causes.

Trinidad emphasized that the AFP remains committed to its constitutional mandate and continues to perform its duties without political bias.

Despite the circulation of the unauthorized content, the military assured the public that it remains united, disciplined, and focused on protecting the Filipino people, defending national sovereignty, and safeguarding the country's territorial integrity.
