CLEARING 2 LANDSLIDES: MDRRMC Tinglayan works overnight to clear roads from rocks, debris

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Ensuring that motorists and travelers reach their destinations without hassles and further delays, the men and women of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Tinglayan worked overtime to clear roads.


The main road of Tinglayan is an important motorway connecting Kalinga to Bontoc. If unpassable, motorist will take longer travels via other routes.

On September 4 afternoon, two major landslides occurred in Junction and Sitio Danglis in Poblacion following a heavy downpour in the municipality.


The members of the MDRRMC chaired by Mayor Charles Abay and Vice Chaired by Vice Mayor Alexander Malasi were immediately deployed to the two areas and started clearing the road from rocks, soil, and other debris from 5:30 p.m. until 12:30 midnight.


In an interview, Mayor Abay said that the MDRRMC is always on standby to respond in times of emergencies and calamities 24/7, and that the council prioritizes the safety and convenience of the public.


“Agpasalamat tayo kadagitoy members iti MDRRMC ta always nga sisasagana da karkaru nu kastoy nga adda emergencies and calamities. Ken talaga nga nagpatnag dagiti teams tayo from the council nga nang-clear kadagiay na-landslide nga roads tayo tapnu ti kasta ket nawaya iti dalan dagiti biyahero ken mapan agtrabaho the next morning,” he expressed.


The MDRRMC is composed of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, PNP, BFP, health offices, and other departments at the Municipal LGU.
