Cagayan, Philippines – After an almost three-day search, the body of the 8-year-old girl who drowned in Cagayan River along Iguig was finally found Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
The victim, identified by authorities only by the name Kaith from Barangay Ajat, was playing with her four friends on Saturday when they all agreed to have a bath in the river.
There, a sudden strong current swept the victim away. Her other friends tried to save her but failed, said the head of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Iguig, Susan Darauay via Cagayan Provincial Information Office.
It was later revealed that the girl does not know how to swim.
Upon receiving the information on Saturday afternoon, the MDRRMO immediately launched a search and retrieval operation.
This morning, Kaith’s remains were recovered in Cagayan River along Barangay San Isidro.
Just a month ago, an 8-year-old boy and his uncle drowned while they were on a picnic at the same river along Tuguegarao City.
