DTI-CAR’s support to Philippine Coffee Industry recognized

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The continued support of the regional Department of Trade and Industry in the enhancement of the Philippine coffee industry was recognized by the national coffee guild and coffee council of Davao region.

The certificate of appreciation was given to DTI – Cordillera, represented by the Provincial Director of DTI – Kalinga, Renie Ramos during the culmination program of the two-day Philippine Coffee Expo 2022 held on September 15 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City.

The PCE served as an avenue for the entire coffee industry of the Philippines to converge and tackle key challenges and opportunities through technical discussions, presentations of new technologies to increase productivity and quality and build networks within the coffee sector.

In the said exhibit, the notable Arabica and Robusta of the 10 Cordilleran Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and farmers from all over the region were showcased and served in Booth 11.

Among those featured were the Kalinga’s Robusta by Olimpo Lumasok, the top 10 winner of the 2022 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) held earlier this year; and Gawidan Malin-awaan Marketing Cooperative, and others.

The local department expressed gratitude to all those who took time to visit their booth. It likewise encourage the public to support Cordilleran coffee farmers and MSMEs in the same event next year.
