Tabuk City, Kalinga – Workers in Kalinga whose livelihoods were disrupted or completely destroyed by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan will soon receive much-needed relief.

This comes after the Regional Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE–Cordillera) committed P2,000,000 in funding to the Provincial Government of Kalinga (Kalinga PLGU) to provide temporary employment to displaced workers in the province.

According to the Kalinga Information Office, the release of the funds was confirmed during a meeting between DOLE–Cordillera Regional Director Imelda E. Romanillos, CESE, and Governor James S. Edduba on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

During the meeting, Romanillos confirmed that the PLGU will receive the said amount under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program as one of her final acts before her reassignment to another region.

Governor Edduba, in an interview, expressed gratitude to the agency and to the DOLE Regional Director for what he described as “timely assistance” to the workers in the province who continue to struggle in the aftermath of the typhoon.

The governor emphasized that the support will help hundreds of families recover more quickly from their losses by providing them with temporary employment while the province works toward long-term plans to restore normalcy.

“Agyaman tayo ditoy inted ti DOLE, through Ma’am Imelda Romanillos, the Regional Director, ti in-provide da nga assistance para kadagitoy kakailian tayo nga naawanan wenno naapektaran ti source of income da. We are very grateful for this help—very timely daytoy nga support,” Edduba added.
