Pasil, Kalinga - Employees of Pasil LGU actively joined the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to reduce disaster risks and manage the consequences of disasters in the municipality.

After virtually attending the 4th Quarter NSED program on November 11, the employees of the local government unit, with the supervision of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), conducted an earthquake simulation.

Duck, Cover, and Hold

During the simulation, employees applied proper application of “Duck, Cover, and Hold.”

According to MDRRMO Marlyn Pagutayao, it is necessary to remain calm and immediately duck or drop to the floor when an earthquake strikes. Look for a sturdy desk, table, or other furniture and cover under it.

Hold on to the furniture until the ground stops shaking, then move to a safe area.

The employees were also reminded of the “safe route going to the evacuation area at the Pasil Central School Plaza.

“Idiay gamin ti safe area ditoy ta daytoy location na daytoy munisipyo ket prone to landslide,” Pagutayao explained.

The MDRRM Officer acknowledged the employees for their active participation.

With the concluded drill, officials and employees are expected to always be alert in case of earthquake occurrence, especially because earthquakes, unlike typhoons and other disasters, are unpredictable.
