Pasil, Kalinga – A day after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) declared the start of the rainy season in the country, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Pasil issued an advisory on the risk of dengue in the locality.

The MHO headed by Dr. Aldrin Siwao expects a possible rise of dengue cases this season, therefore they appealed for the community to cooperate in observing the measures to control the disease.

Such preventive measures to protect the public from the dengue-carrying mosquitoes include regular cleaning their house and their surroundings such as getting rid of stagnant water in containers, which may become breeding sites of mosquitoes.

“Dawaten mi manen ti supporta ken kooperasyun yu nga agdalus manen iti arubayan ken every weekend a panagdadalus iti barangay,” urged the office.

According to the MHO, the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (ABKD) should be strengthened by means of implementing the 4S strategy in community households.

The first S stands for ‘Search and Destroy’ pertaining to the breeding sites of adult mosquitos. Another S is for the community to employ ‘Self Protection Measures’ by wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts and daily use of mosquito repellent.

Moreover, the members of each household should ‘Seek early Consultation’ and ‘Support Fogging/ Spraying’ only in hotspot areas where there is an increase in cases.

Dengue case in the municipality

Sanitary Inspector, Beverly Palliso yesterday, May 18, 2022, said that they have recorded one case of dengue. The patient who has history of stay in Tabuk City was referred to Kalinga Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
