Project MARITES launched for college scholars in CAR

Baguio City, Philippines – To help in the success of college scholars who venture in business, the Commission of Higher Education – Cordillera launched its Project MARITES or Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Students-grantees.


The commission, as reported by PTV – Cordillera, is the first in the country to initiate the project.

Director of CHED – Cordillera, Demetrio Anduyan Jr. said this is in response to their observation that the scholars engaged in business to augment family income.


Among those who will benefit to the project will be the student-grantees that will be chosen by the six State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the region, from the 2,800 recipients of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) program.


The grantees of the Project MARITES will be trained in entrepreneurship skills.


“More intensive diay ited mi nga trainings for the student-grantees of our universities and colleges. Uppat nga modules data e, so you have entrepreneurial mindsetting, marketing, financial literacy and production,” disclosed the Provincial Director of DTI – Baguio Benguet, Atty. Samuel Gallardo.

On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, the CHED – Cordillera, Regional DTI and SUCs signed a Memorandum of Agreement to the implementation of the project will be from July to August this year.


As agreed upon, the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Unit of the commission will be leading the project while DTI – Cordillera will provide trainers.
