Baguio City, Philippines – The John Doe who was brought to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) after being found unconscious at the city market has been identified by his family.

The patient was reportedly seen by a bystander at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Block 4 of the public market. Concerned, the bystander alerted Police Station 7, which promptly coordinated with the Emergency Medical Service (EMS).

The man was then transported to the hospital’s emergency room for treatment.

Upon arrival, the patient was described as non-verbal and unresponsive, according to the Medical Social Work Department (MSWD) of BGHMC.

Without any identification cards, documents, or visible markings, the MSWD–BGHMC earlier released a public service announcement detailing his description and seeking public assistance in identifying the unknown individual.

With the help of the public, the patient was positively identified at approximately 10:03 a.m. on Wednesday.

The MSWD said its helpline received a call from the patient’s brother and live-in partner confirming his identity. They later arrived at the hospital to attend to their loved one.

The MSWD didn’t release the name of said man for privacy reasons.

In an update, the department stated that the patient is undergoing specialized medical procedures to support his improvement and recovery and remains under close medical supervision.

The MSWD expressed gratitude to everyone who helped amplify its announcement, leading to the identification of the individual.

“Your compassion and swift response made a meaningful difference for the patient and his loved ones,” the department said in a statement.
