Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Unregistered users of ‘walkie talkies’ or hand-held radio in Pinukpuk will be penalized. This is after the ordinance regulating the use and possession of said gadget was recently approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Municipal Ordinance No. 2021 – 06 was crafted after it was observed that there is an increasing number of units and number of people using ‘walkie talkies’ in the locality.

To regulate its use and possession and ‘to instill peace and order’ among users, only a group of people are authorized to acquire and use hand held radios.

These include the 23 barangay councils in Pinukpuk, personnel from the Department of Education, Department of Public Works and Highways, construction firms, business sectors, local government unit personnel, the PNP, AFP and BFP, and any responsible holder who is at least 18 years old and above.

Additionally, these individuals are required to register their hand-held radios at the Pinukpuk LGU and are required to pay a onetime fee of P100.

Unregistered users who will be caught shall pay P500 for first offense; P1,000 for second; and P2,500 and confiscation of gadget for the third offense.

This ordinance shall take effect after its posting in conspicuous places in the municipality.
