74-yr.-old man dies after vehicle was hit and buried by landslide in Benguet

Tuba, Benguet – There was no life detected from a 74-year-old man after his vehicle was hit and buried by a landslide in Begis, Poblacion in Tuba Benguet while Super Typhoon Nando was battering Northern Luzon on Monday, September 22.

 

The landslide was triggered around 2:00 p.m. along the Marcos Highway, covering four vehicles – a Ford Ranger, Toyota Innova, Toyota Grandia, and tanker truck.

 

According to the Tuba Public Information Office, among the occupants of the four involved cars was a 74-year-old man from Tarlac who got stuck in his car. He was declared dead on arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

 

Other injured individuals in the incident include five senior citizens from Pasig City – four female and one male, who were also brought to the BGHMC where they are currently admitted for further tests.

 

Tuba PIO further informed that a 36-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man who had dislocated his shoulder and sustained other injuries from the incident were rushed to the hospital.

 

As 8:00 p.m. on September 22, Super Typhoon Nando continues to move away from the Babuyan Islands after making a landfall on Panuitan Island, Calayan at 3:00 p.m.
