Abra gets 168 new projects this 2025 to boost economic growth

Bangued, Abra – The province of Abra is to implement 168 new projects in 2025 to help improve the local economy aiming to create jobs, boost business activity, and make life better for the locals.


Of the total projects, according to Edwin Bringas, Abra District Engineer, 100 are currently underway and the rest will be implemented in the second half of the year, as cited by the Philippine Information Agency – Abra.


Said projects include completion and construction of roads, schools and bridges, among others.


Other ongoing projects include the two high-impact projects in San Quintin–San Mariano and Bangued–Cabaroan bypass roads, aiming to cut travel time and improve access for residents, commuters, and businesses.


In retrospect, Bringas highlighted the completion of thousands of projects over the past years which aided Abra's growth.


“The Department of Public Works and Highways – Abra District Engineering Office completed a total of 1,308 regular projects and 214 special projects. These projects include 88 multipurpose buildings, 48 barangay halls, 106 covered courts, 81 bridge-related works, 239 flood control structures, 399 road projects, 62 classrooms, four health facilities, 103 farm-to-market roads, and 13 legacy bridges,” Bringas was quoted saying.


With the steadfast progress, the government and locals expect these projects to improve lives, create jobs, and support the province’s economy.


When asked about the total amount of the projects, the information office of DPWH- ABRA explained that '' ...With the amount hindi pa kami makapag bibigay kasi may mga changes pa kasi mga yun, hanggang sa 168 number of projects at sa beneficiary po eh yung mga Municipalities ng Abra kasi lahat naman may mga project na doon ang location." Said office also added that the fund for the projects came from the General Appropriation Act (GAA).
