Kalinga health workers lit candles for HIV/AIDS victims - (57 new cases recorded in PH daily)

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Health workers in Kalinga joined the worldwide remembrance of individuals suffering from human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) around the globe through candle lighting.

 

These health care personnel in the province showed up in solidarity and convened for the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on May 27.

Among the highlights of the event which had the theme, ‘we remember, we rise, we lead,’ included lecture on HIV/AIDS, an open forum, and the candle lighting ceremony and prayer for those suffering with the disease.

 

“Daytoy nga program ket kasla ngay nga we come together to pray for dagitoy nga adda saksakit na, dagiay agsa-suffer. Kasla nga kararag para kada isuda,” Flordeliza Abay, HIV/AIDS Coordinator of the Kalinga Provincial Health Office, relayed to GURU Press Cordillera.

 

Just this June 2, the Department of Health relayed there are 57 new HIV cases a day being recorded in the Philippines. This shows 500 percent hike in cases, making the Philippines record the highest increase in new HIV cases in the globe.
