Man in Tanudan, Kalinga surrenders loose firearm

Tanudan, Kalinga – A loose firearm has been turned over to Tanudan Municipal Police Station at around 11:00 in the morning of September 28, 2022.

Rommel Pantuloc, Barangay Captain of Poblacion, said the loose firearm was voluntarily surrendered by his constituent after participating in a lecture on anti-criminality and loose firearms conducted by the PNP.

The said individual refused to reveal his identity for security purposes.

Tanudan police said their ongoing visits and interactions with different barangays through “Dumanun Makitungtung” program led to the surrender of the loose firearm.

“Dumanun Makitungtung” is a way settling and resolving conflicts in a verbal form through barangay visitation and interact with the residents to persuade them to stop dealing with or supporting the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) in the Cordillera region.

With said strategy, the man was urged to surrender his gun - a Caliber.38 revolver with defaced serial number and with engraved markings “COLT SPECIAL MADE IN U.S.A.”.

The surrendered firearm being mark with “CTM-09-28” is now under the custody of PNP Tanudan and will be turned over to Kalinga Provincial Police Office- Scene of the Crime Operatives (KPPO-SOCO).

The authorities are asking the cooperation of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) members and others to report any unlawful activity for immediate response.
