SLU alumna among 2023 Mining Engineering board exam topnotchers

Baguio City, Philippines – A new Cordilleran engineer is one of the top-performing examinees in the recently concluded Mining Engineering Licensure Examination (MELE).


Saint Louis University alumna, Sarah Genese Cabilangan, secured the 7th top spot of the August 2023 MELE after having garnered a rating of 85.35%.

Cabilangan is one of the 242 mining engineering graduates who passed the licensure examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission on August 22-24, 2023 at testing centers in Baguio City, National Capital Region, Cebu, Davao, and Legazpi.


August 2023 MELE produced 68.95% passers from the 351 examinees.


The Commission on Higher Education Cordillera, in a Facebook post, lauded Cabilangan and SLU for this feat saying, “This is a testament to the university's commitment to providing quality education and producing top-performing graduates.”


Apart from Cabilangan, there are 27 other SLU alumni who passed the August 2023 MELE.


A graduate of Bicol University – Legaspi is this year’s MELE top 1 after getting an 88.40% rating. University of the Philippines – Diliman, on the other hand, emerged as the top-performing school with a hundred percent passing rate.
