Vaccination roll-out for minors in Cordillera starts this November

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The different provinces in Cordillera will soon start the COVID-19 vaccination for the 12 to 17 age bracket after the national launching of pediatric inoculation on November 5, 2021.


Assistant Regional Director (ARD) of Department of Health-CAR, Dr. Amelita M. Pangilinan disclosed this during her visit to the province on November 3.


The Assistant Regional Director, who joined the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) led by Governor Engr. Ferdinand Tubban, related that a pilot run for hospitals was conducted prior to the nationwide rollout.


In Cordillera, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and Benguet General Hospital started inoculating minors with comorbidity on October 29, 2021.


“For the rest of the pediatric population, pati dagiay awan comorbidity na, mai-launch met ti national nu Friday, November 5. So, we expect a within this week, adda dagiay training or orientations nga i-conduct ti national as well as regional,” Dr. Pangilinan explained.


“After launching nationwide, amin tayo ngay ag-sasabay tayo, han a kasla dati a maun-una ti NCR tapos dadduma a region,” added the Assistant Regional Director.

DOH-CAR clarified that they will wait for the go signal, but once the program is launched, the rollout will follow.


The minor inoculation will be included in the 70% target population, which was set to be completed by December 31, 2021.


Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje earlier said pediatric vaccination is for the gradual reopening of schools for limited face-to-face classes that the government is eyeing.


Dr. Pangilinan assured that the vaccination for the age bracket will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines released by the national government.
