Benguet, Philippines - The weather disturbances for the past days brought by ‘Crising’, ‘Dante’, ‘Emong’, and southwest monsoon triggered flooding and landslides in Benguet, leaving at least six people injured and one missing.

Three of the injured are from Tuba, two in Kapangan, and one in Kibungan, according to the report of Benguet Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office as of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25.

All the victims are now in a stable condition.

The missing individual, a farmer from Sitio Talingoroy, Wangal, La Trinidad, was last seen heading to his garden to supposedly clear a drainage canal early Friday morning before a landslide struck the area. He is believed to have been buried by the massive landslide.

Despite the harsh weather conditions, personnel from Benguet Provincial Police Office and La Trinidad Municipal Police Station have been working with the local fire personnel, MDRRMO teams, barangay officials, K9 units, and community volunteers to find the missing man.

In the latest data from Benguet PDRRMC, 142 families or 497 individuals from various municipalities have been displaced. Most of the evacuees are from Itogon (36), Bakun (32), and Mankayan (19).

Some evacuees are seeking shelter in evacuation centers, while others sought refuge with their relatives.

While ‘Emong’ exited the country earlier today, the province continues to experience occasional heavy rains and gusty winds.

Authorities reminded residents to avoid landslide-prone slopes and riverbanks.
