Hingyon, Ifugao – More than 180 displaced and disadvantaged workers in Hingyon, Ifugao are set to receive nearly P1 million in TUPAD assistance, providing them with temporary employment and income support as they continue to look for permanent job opportunities.

According to a report from the municipality’s information office, a total of 185 beneficiaries of the program will render 10 days of community-based work. The activities include the maintenance of various tourism sites in the municipality and the rehabilitation of damaged rice fields operated by the local government unit, aimed at boosting the town’s heirloom rice industry.

To ensure smooth implementation, the LGU, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), earlier conducted an orientation for the beneficiaries to prepare them for their work assignments and to ensure proper understanding of the program’s guidelines.

Upon completion of the work period, the beneficiaries will receive a total of P970,325 in wages, or P5,245 each, as cited by the MIO.

TUPAD, or “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers,” provides temporary employment and community assistance to vulnerable workers, particularly those in the informal sector affected by economic hardship, disasters, or job loss, by offering short-term work ranging from 10 to more than 30 days.

Over the years, TUPAD has become one of the government’s most accessible labor interventions at the local level, implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The program helps families meet daily needs while beneficiaries seek longer-term employment or livelihood opportunities.

While there is no publicly available data on the total number of TUPAD beneficiaries in Hingyon from 2025 to early 2026, the program has consistently been implemented in the town in recent years as part of DOLE’s employment assistance initiatives, benefiting thousands of residents through multiple batches depending on fund availability.
