Tanudan, Kalinga – Hundreds of constituents in Lower, Tanudan benefited from the free services provided by the government during a Health Caravan at the Pagugo Elementary School Gymnasium in Barangay Dupligan on August 19.

The event dubbed as YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) Caravan was spearheaded by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Kalinga, in partnership with the Tanudan Municipal Health Office, led by Dr. Guia Grace Dagadag, DOH Kalinga, and the Barangay LGU of Dupligan.

Medical technologist and Records Officer Feth Bagyon Bangngagan said there were 69 individuals who underwent medical consultation, 33 for blood typing, 35 for random blood glucose, and 75 who availed of the fluoride application and tooth brush distribution. Additionally, the personnel of the MHO and DOH assisted more than 50 individuals in PhilHealth membership registration.

The healthcare personnel said they likewise utilized the program not just to check on the health of the community, but also to conduct an information drive to educate the people on the rational use of drugs like antibiotics and to raise awareness on tuberculosis and nutrition, and non-communicable diseases.

The event encapsulated the theme: ‘Bagong Pilipinas, Malayo Ako sa Sakit’, which highlighted preventive health care through the PhilHealth Konsulta Program.
