Baguio City, Philippines - A 24-year-old man was arrested after he scared students using a fake gun inside Quezon Elementary School in Baguio City on July 1, 2025.

In her interview with the Regional News Group Luzon, Police Major Marcy Grace Marron, Baguio City Police Office Public Information Officer, said the students were supposed to go outside the school when the suspect entered, approached them, and challenged them to a fight.

During the confrontation, the suspect showed what appeared to be a gun.

“...nung na-dismiss na yong mga bata (victims), palabas na sila ng kanilang school nung nakita nila yong suspek. Sinabi ng suspek na lumabas sila ng school kasi that time ay nakapasok narin yong mga suspek sa school,” Marron added.

Alarmed by the incident, a security guard in the school called for police assistance. When police arrived at the scene, the suspect ran to his car and tried to escape.

A brief chase ensued until the suspect was cornered by the responding police officers at the Baguio General Hospital Rotunda. The suspect was arrested, and it was found out that the gun he used in the crime was fake or a replica.

The police have called the parents and teachers of the minors and informed them about the incident.

BCPO investigation revealed that the 24-year-old man had a past misunderstanding with the victims, which triggered him to scare them.

The suspect, whose name was not revealed, was detained at the BCPO Station 5 but was later released after both parties agreed to settle the matter at the barangay level.
