41-yr.-old inmate detained at PMA Baguio dies of cardiac arrest

La Trinidad, Benguet – An inmate was found dead on Monday, June 1, 2025, inside a detention facility at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City.   

 

The victim was identified by the police as Amay Istumago Gamok, 41. He was detained at the PMA headquarters located at Navy Base, Saint Joseph Village Barangay, Baguio City.   


According to the police report obtained by DWZT 540 AM - Radyo Totoo, Kareem Buscal Odiem, a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, called Gamok's cellphone many times but got no answer. 

 

With that, Odiem, along with a saleslady at the headquarters, went to check on Gamok.  When the two arrived, they called out the prisoner’s name, but he did not respond.

 

The soldier then broke the window of the room just to get inside. When they got inside, they discovered that Gamok was already dead.  

 

Doctor Dandeo Halog from the Baguio City Emergency Medical Service examined the body, and it was found that Gamok died of cardiac arrest.  

 

Investigation also found out that the victim had a medical history of hyperacidity and urinary tract infections (UTI).
