5 iKalingas qualified for DOST grant; P40,000 school fee subsidy among privileges

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Five incoming freshmen college students from the Kalinga Province qualified for the P40,000 grant in school fees and other privileges from the Department of Science and Technology as the complete their degree in the field of mathematics, engineering, science, and technology.

For this year, 10,907 students nationwide are qualified for the 2025 DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) S&T Undergraduate Scholarship Programs – 163 of them are from the Cordillera region. The scholarship provides P40,000 in school fees per academic year, P10,000 for learning materials per year, P8,000 monthly living allowance, and P10,000 for thesis allowance, among others.

 

The grant is categorized into two – the RA 7687 Scholarship program which is awarded to talented and deserving underprivileged students and the Merit Scholarship program which is given to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics.

 

Of the 163 qualifiers from the Cordillera, five of them are from Kalinga. They are Lovely Shane Tarnate Bagtang, Milo Ermitano Diaz Jr., Trixha Avril Ramirez Tagaruma, Errol Augosto Comafay Bayubay, and Ian Jayden Talata Bing-il.

 

DOST Kalinga Provincial Director, Jasmin Lee Donaal commended the qualifiers and encouraged them to enroll and avail of the grant.

 

“To our five qualifiers from Kalinga, congratulations! You hurdled this challenge, we hope you enroll and avail of the scholarship to increase the number of human resources engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our province. Persevere as a scholar and later on help DOST provide Solutions and Opportunities for All!” she expressed.
