Taga, Pinukpuk – Host municipality Pinukpuk secured its first gold medal in gymnastics after dominating the Mixed Duo, Trio, and Group categories during the ongoing 2026 Kalinga Provincial Meet, held at the Pinukpuk Vocational School Hall on January 14.

The victories marked a strong start for the host town as it showcased both athletic excellence and home-court pride in one of the meet’s most anticipated events.

In gymnastics competitions, these categories refer to team-based performances in which athletes execute coordinated routines together, emphasizing synchronization, artistry, and difficulty.

According to the Pinukpuk Public Information Office (PIO), representing Pinukpuk in the Mixed Duo category were Clark Jazzrell M. Tega and Faith Delight D. Comadre, while Rvey Castillo, Jeremy Dawagan, and Azlyn Sarol competed in the Trio and Group categories. The athletes delivered standout performances marked by strong chemistry and precise execution, earning them top honors.

In the same event, Balbalan Agro-Industrial High School also claimed gold in the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise, with Rizalindo C. Panisigan Jr. showcasing strength and flexibility to secure the coveted medal.

Beyond the medals, the victories brought pride not only to the athletes’ respective schools but also to their municipalities as a whole, setting a celebratory tone for the rest of the 2026 Provincial Meet.

Despite persistent rainfall, the province-wide meet pushed through, with thousands of delegates continuing to gear up for their scheduled events and competitions.
