Remains of suspected mentally ill man in Tuba, Benguet buried



Tuba, Benguet – The remains of a man found unconscious on Monday, November 29, in Badiwan, Tuba, but died undergoing treatment was buried after no relatives came to claim the body.


Police Major Leonard Danasen, Chief of Police of Tuba MPS, based on reports from the Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation, said that the man was temporarily buried around 8 PM on Wednesday, December 1, at the Public Cemetery in Barangay Poblacion, Tuba.


As per initial report, residents found the man unconscious in the area, he was then rushed by the Bureau of Fire Protection-Tuba to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, but he later died on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, while undergoing treatment.


Residents who found the man claimed that he does not have any wounds or injuries that could have caused his death and added that he may be suffering from mental illness, having seen him just wandering around the community.

Police have notified the public about the unknown remains, but they opted to bury him when no relative showed up to claim the body.


The burying of the corpse was made through the coordination of Tuba Municipal Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection-Tuba, and the local government of Tuba.


Relative to this, those who have missing relatives are advised to visit the Tuba MPS and bring a picture to determine if the buried corpse is their missing kin.
