Bontoc suffers over P290M worth of damage from typhoons Mirasol and Nando

Bontoc, Mt. Province - More than P290 million in damages have been recorded in Bontoc, following the back-to-back onslaught of Typhoons Mirasol and Nando that left communities in difficulties due to widespread flooding, landslides, and destruction of livelihoods, according to a report of Mt. Province Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on September 29, 2025.

To recall, Tropical Depression Mirasol hit Northern Luzon on September 17, bringing heavy rains before it exited the following day, September 18. Four days later, Super Typhoon Nando struck with even stronger downpour.


Apart from the estimated P290 million in damage, according to reports from various agencies, the municipality reported a total of 398 families or 1,342 individual affected by said typhoons, with one confirmed casualty.


NDRRMC, as of 6 AM of September 28, reported TC Mirasol, Nando, including typhoon Opong, left 26 people dead. Of the total number, Cordillera logged four.


The country continues to experience severe weather as Typhoon Paulo batters Northern Luzon.
