Bontoc trike drivers and operators join hands to clean-up roads

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

Bontoc, Mountain Province – At least 183 tricycle drivers and operators in Bontoc conduct a clean-up drive along the national roads in Central Bontoc on December 10.

Said yearly activity is the initiative of the trike drivers and operators in the capital town as they renew their franchise.

Personnel of Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Bontoc Municipal Fire Station (MFS) also helped clean the national road from Samoki, Chakchakan, and Caluttit to Circle Rotunda while the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) and Bontoc Municipal Tricycle Franchising Regulatory Board (BMTFRB) sponsored the activity.

Anonymous individuals also donated cleaning supplies and materials used during the general cleaning.

Marilyn Aquino, the secretariat of the BMTFRB, said the activity aims to help maintain cleanliness on the national roads where the trike drivers are daily plying. She said that this is beneficial not only for the motorists but for the community as well.

Meanwhile, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey lauded the initiative of the trike drivers and volunteers who participated in the activity. He also expressed his gratitude to all those who donated cleaning materials.

“As we continue our fight against COVID-19, cleanliness is one of our priorities. Thus, clean-up drives are necessary for maintaining the health and sanitation here in our municipality,” he added.
