Tabuk City, Kalinga - In a show of support, Governor James S. Edduba, in his message through Atty. Priel Balnao, reaffirmed his commitment to the innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives of Kalinga State University (KSU) in the recently concluded launching ceremony of the ‘kalinga’ Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Hub on September 18, 2025 at the KSU Technology and Innovation Building in Bulanao.

During said event, the governor emphasized the vital role of higher education in boosting economic growth and innovation, pledging full support for KSU’s efforts to create an active system for local start-ups, research, and entrepreneurship.

Through the establishment of the kalinga TBI center, the father of the province said that it marks a significant step in an era driven by innovation, recognizing the KSU for its role in advancing technologies that support MSMEs.

“The establishment of the TBIC is one big step in an era where innovation is the currency of progress. This center will serve as a cradle for ideas. I acknowledge the vital role of KSU in promoting technologies, particularly our MSMEs. By nurturing our vast technology businesses, KSU is not only empowering our local entrepreneurs but also paving the way for inclusive growth that benefits our communities across the province,” relays Atty. Balnao.

Edduba reaffirmed the province’s full support alongside the Lumin-awa agenda which promotes sustainable programs that empower communities, boosting local industries.

The Governor also expressed confidence that the center will turn ideas into solutions that create jobs and improve lives across Kalinga, saying, “… I assure you that the provincial government of Kalinga fully supports initiatives that foster innovation and enterprise. I am confident that this center will provide opportunities for creativity and technology, where ideas are not only born, but are nurtured and will create jobs, improve lives and secure a better future for our province.”

Edduba added that the government is ready to support schools and state universities through authorized programs and encourages collaboration and that the provincial government is committed to helping whenever possible to promote development in Kalinga.

The event convened various stakeholders which include representatives from the DOST, DepDev, partner agencies, and students, among others.

Meantime, on the same day, DepDev alongside DOST signed a landmark MOA through virtual signing to establish KSU’s ‘Capacitating Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation Hub’—a one-stop support center for local food enterprises, marking a major milestone for the university and province.
