Kalinga suffered 133.2 Million estimated total damages due to Ulysses – Kalinga PDRRMO

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The accumulated estimated damages incurred by Kalinga province due to typhoon Ulysses amount to 111.8 million pesos based on the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis intial report submitted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office this November 14, 2020.


The extant of damage can increase depending on the circumstances that shall happen next and the results of the finalization of reports coming from the municipalities and the city within the province.


The damages assessed include those in the agriculture, livestock and poultry, roads, and bridges.


Of the categories assessed for damages, destruction of roads had the highest cost of damage amounting to 111.4 million, largely due to intermittent voluminous landslides and souring road shoulders.


With the current results, Governor Ferdinand Tubban ordered the continuing update on the assessment of damages to get latest and more comprehensive data for sound decisions and the avoidance of compromising the conditions of the public.


In the consolidated initial report, it stated that the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office recorded 209 displaced families or 1,149 individuals affected by the typhoon.


Furthermore, some 1,341 farmers incurred heavy losses from Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tabuk City and Tanudan. There are around 1,559.87 hectares reported to have been damaged by the typhoon.
