Tabuk City, Kalinga - As Governor James Edduba recently pushed for more upgrades at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) to bring more accessible medical care to thousands of families across the province, better services are to be expected.

In an urgent move rooted in service and public welfare, Governor Edduba underscored that healthcare remains one of the priorities of his administration.

Last June 10, 2025, through the initiative of the governor, an emergency meeting was held by the provincial and  KPH officials to map out major facility upgrades and reforms for the PLGU-operated hospital.

Among the priority measures tackled during the meeting and soon to be implemented included the re-nationalization of the KPH, upgrading the hospital license from level 1 to level 2, rewiring of the Kalinga Children’s Ward, improvements to the emergency room, expansion of the outpatient department, relocation of the Pediatric Ward, transfer of radiology and imaging, purchase of a generator set for KCW, installation of an elevator at KCW, and opening of a new ward for senior citizens, among others.

Despite the short notice, according to the province’s Information Office, the meeting had more than the needed attendance, and officials reflected a shared commitment to elevating public health systems in Kalinga.

As the projects move forward, KPH, according to KPIO, is set to become not only bigger and better but also a more inclusive, compassionate, and community-focused hospital—just as the iKalingas deserve.
