LINGGO NG KABATAAN: Balbalan celebrates the youth with skills and talent contests

Balbalan, Kalinga – The young people in Balbalan shined and delivered a variety of talents, delighting the municipality with their individual gifts in the 2025 Linggo ng Kabataan celebration in the municipality.

The youth across the 14 barangays in Balbalan gathered to celebrate and to show their talents and skills on July 10 – 11 at the KDCM gym in Poblacion.

Unlike the previous years when the Linggo ng Kabataan focused on sports and athleticism, this year’s celebration centered on the individual talents and gifts. Among the activities conducted were dance craze competition, digital logo making, slogan making, Balbalan’s Got Talent, and modernized pattong.

Mayor Almar Malannag, who personally joined the youth in the two-day activity along with the Balbalan LGU personnel and the national line agencies, conveyed they were all satisfied with the presentations, saying that with the right amount of support, the young people can realize their potentials.

“Nakita mi nu kasanu dagitoy u-ubbing nga maawis ken maengganyo nga mangipakita iti tal-talento da ken maki-cooperate iti activities nu i-motivate mo da isuda ken nu ikkam da isuda iti importansiya. Haan lang nga sports talaga iti paglaingan da,” the mayor expressed.

Malannag further described how active the participants were even with the exclusion of team sports events, relating, “ta diay basketball ken sports ket inikkat mi ta kasla diay individual events ken kultura tayo iti inaramid tayo tatta ket talaga nga active da piman ngay. Inaramid da amin nu anya iti makaya da.”

The local chief executive thanked all of those who worked behind the activity, saying if it weren’t for their time, dedication, and creative ideas, the event would not be as productive and eventful, and the participants would not be as happy as they were in the celebration.
