Over P400M worth of Shabu and Cocaine collected in Cagayan waters since June 15

Cagayan, Philippines – Instead of fish, local fishermen in Cagayan have found nearly half a billion worth of illegal contraband in the sea waters of the province from June 15 – 21, 2025.

 

Reports from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cagayan Valley, revealed they recovered over P440,000,000 worth of suspected shabu and cocaine, which were discovered by fisherfolks in Cagayan.

 

The latest case happened on Saturday, June 21, when a 30-year-old fisherfolk reported to authorities a package labeled with ‘Coca Racing’ which he found along the shoreline in Sitio Casaluran, Dilam, Calayan. When inspected, the suspected cocaine weighed at least a kilogram with an estimated worth of P5,300,000.

 

Another suspected contraband, this time shabu, was seen on June 20 by fishermen in Bisagu, Aparri, while they were fishing along the coast of Ballesteros town. The vacuum-sealed transparent plastic bag labeled ‘66’ and a heat-sealed bag were estimated to be worth P10,200,000.

 

Other suspected illegal drugs discovered by fishers in the waters include P2,720,000 worth of shabu in Santa Ana on June 17; P105,400,000 shabu at the border of Camiguin Island and Gonzaga on June 17; P5,100,000 shabu in Sta. Praxedes on June 15; and P312,800,000 shabu in Claveria on June 15.

 

The drug enforcement agency in region 2, meantime, urged residents in the region to continue reporting to authorities any suspicious objects they found floating in the waters or along the shore. They likewise reminded the people to never open the package. 

 

“Huwag buksan; iulat agad sa mga opisyal ng barangay, pinakamalapit na himpilan ng pulisya, o tumawag sa mga sumusunod na numero: PDEA Region 2 (0917-812-8699),” the agency wrote.
