Cagayan Valley, Philippines – The Department of Health – Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (DOH-Cagayan Valley) has been recognized as the top-performing region in Tuberculosis Active Case Finding (TB-ACF) nationwide during the Rotary Club of Guiguinto Prime Foundation, Inc. awarding ceremony held on February 12, 2026, at the Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay in Parañaque City.

According to the DOH, TB-ACF is a proactive public health strategy that involves systematically searching for individuals with TB symptoms or undiagnosed tuberculosis in communities, rather than waiting for them to seek care at health facilities.

Besting seven other regions, the agency’s distinction highlights Cagayan Valley’s intensified efforts to detect undiagnosed TB cases early, ensure prompt treatment, and curb the spread of the disease across communities in the region.

The awards received include a Plaque of Citation and a 2026 GLX Model Mitsubishi Montero Sport.

TB Cases in the Country

Nationally, tuberculosis remains a major public health concern.

Based on data posted by the DOH – Integrated Tuberculosis Information System and reported by national media, TB cases in the country reached over 190,000 from January to June 2025. While figures for 2026 have not yet been released, TB continues to be closely monitored by health authorities.

Meanwhile, the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD), in a Facebook post, said the recognition underscores the region’s commitment to strengthening TB program implementation, expanding outreach, and ensuring the health and safety of its communities.
