Tabuk City, Kalinga - The biggest sporting event (Provincial Athletic Meet) for student-athletes in the province of Kalinga has officially begun on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Tabuk City.

The student-athletes from the seven municipalities of Kalinga, accompanied by their respective mayors and officials, arrived in Bulanao, Tabuk City, on said day for the event’s parade and opening program, ready to show what they got and battle their way to get a spot to represent the province to the CARAA Meet 2025.

List of sports

With the theme “Play with Heart, Win with Honor,” this year’s Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet will feature various sports for both elementary and secondary categories.

To be held in different venues within the province, the sports included in the competition are archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, combat sports, chess, gymnastics, futsal, sepak takraw, swimming, softball, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball, and dance sports.

Around 3,000 athletes are competing in these games until Friday, January 24, with the hope of bringing pride to their respective towns and representing Kalinga in the upcoming Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet next month or the first week of March in Benguet.

The announcement of winners, the overall champion, and the closing program will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, at the Kalinga Astrodome.

It can be recalled that the Rizal delegation was hailed as the overall champion of last year’s provincial meet, and with its reopening this year, will they retain the title, or will the other delegations step up and take the spot?
